Apple Watch Series 10 Debuts with Sleeker Design and Enhanced Features

Apple has officially announced the Apple Watch Series 10, marking a decade since the introduction of its popular smartwatch line. This latest iteration brings some notable improvements while maintaining the familiar Apple Watch aesthetic.

Sleeker Profile, Bigger Display

The Series 10 introduces a redesigned chassis that is approximately 10% thinner and lighter than its predecessor. Despite the slimmer profile, Apple has managed to increase the display sizes to 42mm and 46mm, up from 41mm and 45mm on the Series 9. The OLED screen is also 40% brighter, with an always-on mode that now refreshes once per second for smoother visuals.

New Features and Improved Performance

Powering the Series 10 is Apple's new S10 chip, featuring a 4-core neural engine. While detailed specifications are limited, the upgraded processor is expected to deliver enhanced performance and efficiency.

One of the most intriguing additions is sleep apnea detection, which uses the watch's accelerometer to monitor breathing patterns during sleep. This feature is pending FDA approval and may not be immediately available in all regions.

Audio Enhancements

In a surprising move, Apple has repositioned the watch's speakers, allowing users to play audio directly from the device for the first time. This includes music and podcasts, though the practicality of this feature in public settings remains to be seen.

Pricing and Availability

The Apple Watch Series 10 will be available starting September 20th in four options:

  • Aluminum (Natural, Gold, Dark Slate Grey): From RM1,799 (GPS only) / RM2,449 (Cellular)
  • Titanium: RM3,299

Additionally, Apple introduced a new Satin Black finish for the Watch Ultra 2, featuring a Grade 5 Titanium build and an optional Milanese Loop strap. Pricing for the Ultra 2 starts at RM3,799, with the Milanese Loop version retailing for RM4,299.

As Apple continues to refine its wearable technology, the Series 10 represents a balance between familiar design and meaningful upgrades. While not a revolutionary overhaul, the thinner profile, larger display, and new health features should appeal to both new buyers and those looking to upgrade from older models.
