Apple Watch Series 10: Bigger Display, Slimmer Design, and New Health Features

Apple's latest smartwatch marks a decade of wearable innovation with subtle but meaningful improvements. The Apple Watch Series 10 brings a larger display, slimmer profile, and new health monitoring capabilities to the company's popular wearable line.

Refined Design with Bigger Screen

The Series 10 features the largest display yet on an Apple Watch, with case sizes increasing to 42mm and 46mm. Despite the screen size bump, Apple managed to make this the thinnest and lightest Apple Watch to date. The new wide-angle OLED display offers improved readability from various angles.

Available in aluminum or a new shiny titanium finish, the Series 10 maintains its iconic rounded rectangle shape while slightly refining the curves. The all-metal back now integrates the antenna and contributes to the slimmer 9.7mm thickness.

Faster Charging and Familiar Battery Life

While the 18-hour battery life remains unchanged, Apple has significantly improved charging speeds. The Series 10 can now charge from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes. A quick 8-minute charge provides enough power for 8 hours of sleep tracking.

New Health Features

Sleep apnea detection is the marquee health addition this year. Using the accelerometer rather than blood oxygen data, the watch can monitor for breathing disturbances during sleep over a 30-day period.

A new Vitals app provides nighttime health metrics like average heart rate and wrist temperature. However, blood oxygen monitoring is currently unavailable on US models due to an ongoing patent dispute.

Pricing and Availability

The Apple Watch Series 10 starts at $399 for the aluminum model. The new titanium version with sapphire crystal display begins at $699.

The Verdict

With its larger yet more wearable design, the Series 10 refines the Apple Watch formula in meaningful ways. While it may not be a revolutionary update, the improved display, faster charging, and potential health insights make it a compelling upgrade for those with older Apple Watch models.

For most users, the Series 10 now matches or exceeds the Apple Watch Ultra in everyday usability, unless you require the Ultra's extended battery life or specialized outdoor features. The Series 10 stands as the most refined and capable mainstream smartwatch Apple has produced to date.
