Hybrid AWD Finally Arrives

The headline upgrade is the long-awaited addition of all-wheel drive to the hybrid powertrain option. Previously only available with front-wheel drive, the 2.5-liter hybrid engine can now be paired with AWD on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. This 191 horsepower hybrid setup targets an EPA-estimated 40 mpg in the city for AWD models, only slightly below the 42 mpg estimate for FWD versions.

Increased Capability

Ford has also boosted the Maverick's capabilities:

  • Hybrid models now offer an optional 4K towing package, matching the EcoBoost engine's 4,000-pound towing capacity
  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist is now available, simplifying the towing experience
  • The 2.0L EcoBoost engine (238 hp, 275 lb-ft) is now AWD-only

Tech and Interior Upgrades

The 2025 Maverick receives a major interior tech upgrade:

  • 13.2-inch touchscreen replaces the previous 8-inch display
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Built-in 5G modem
  • 360-degree camera system available on upper trims
  • Level 2 driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go

  • Unique grille designs for each trim level
  • New Black Package with blacked-out exterior elements
  • New color options, including green

Pricing and Availability

The 2025 Ford Maverick starts at $27,890 (including $1,595 destination fee) for the base hybrid FWD model. While this represents an increase over the previous year, it remains the most affordable pickup in Ford's lineup.

Orders open on August 1st, with deliveries expected to begin in late 2024.

The Maverick's Continued Success

The Maverick has been a major hit for Ford, with over 77,000 units sold in the first half of 2023 alone. The company reports that more than half of Maverick buyers weren't previously considering a truck, positioning it as a true competitor to compact sedans and crossovers.

With these updates addressing key customer requests and adding desirable features, the 2025 Maverick looks poised to continue its strong sales performance in the compact truck segment.
