Cutting-Edge Displays

Both Zero 40 variants sport large 6.78-inch curved AMOLED displays with FHD+ resolution. The panels boast a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. While the 4G model refreshes at 120Hz, the 5G version pushes this even further with a silky-smooth 144Hz refresh rate.

Powerful Cameras

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 108MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), utilizing Samsung's ISOCELL HM6 sensor. This is paired with a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Selfie lovers aren't left out, with both models featuring a high-resolution 50MP front-facing camera with autofocus.

Performance Options

The Zero 40 5G is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. For those who don't need 5G connectivity, the 4G model utilizes the MediaTek Helio G100 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM.

Long-Lasting Power

Both devices pack a hefty 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The 5G variant goes a step further, offering 20W wireless charging and even 10W reverse wireless charging capabilities.

Software and AI Features

The Zero 40 series runs on XOS 14.5, based on Android 14. Infinix is emphasizing AI capabilities, including an AI assistant called Folax (powered by Google's Gemini), AI photo editing tools, and a built-in translator.

Pricing and Availability

In Malaysia, the Infinix Zero 40 4G starts at RM1,200 (approximately $279 USD) for the 8GB/256GB configuration. The 5G model is priced at RM1,699 (about $395 USD). Both versions will be available starting September 8th through authorized retailers and Infinix's TikTok Shop.

The Verdict

With its combination of high-refresh-rate displays, versatile camera systems, and competitive pricing, the Infinix Zero 40 series looks to be a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone market. The inclusion of wireless charging on the 5G model is particularly noteworthy at this price point. However, potential buyers will need to weigh the benefits of 5G connectivity against the price difference between the two models.
